Portraits at night

Taking portraits at night-time can be achieved by using nearby lighting and a flash as a fill light. By using both these lights together your subject will not be washed out by the hardness of the flash.

On the stairway to where?

I always find stairs very interesting, they are always leading to somewhere. They can be used to direct you to where you want the eye to travel.

Who are the heroes Australia Day?

Who are the Australian heroes? Well I think that they are everyday people who just try to get on with life. They try to be part of the community doing ordinary things that make that little bit of difference to someone else. They are the unsung heroes.

A little touch of magic with dappled light

Natural light can be magical. I found this mushroom underneath a large fir tree. The fir tree branches produced the beautiful dappled light on the mushroom. It reminds me of fairies in the garden. Just magical.

Natural lighting with macro photography

Here I have used a macro lense with no flash. I opened the aperture up as wide as possible, using only natural lighting giving it a warm natural feel.

Designing a layout for a poster

Here I created a poster to promote the National Poultry Show.
I divided the poster into 3 sections.

  • The top section for the banner. This encompassed their logo and scenic views of Canberra.
  • The middle or content section contains a picture of some show Pekins.
  • The bottom or footer section shows the information on time, dates, contacts and venue

The Devon Rex

Meet the Devon Rex. This young cat was extremely active at the time of the shoot. A lot patience was required. As you can see this is a very alert feline, she just wanted to play.
